Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj

It seems very fitting to have a page for Brother Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj since he has given many confirmations on the teachings of The Army of the Lord and the book The Return.

Introduction

This Introduction will help readers to discern the differences between truth and error when it comes to the prophet Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj. It should be noted that not a single person on this earth who is neither angel, resurrected being, or translated being is a walking oracle of the knowledge, plans, or workings of God. No one was closer to God than Jesus and even He was required to walk by faith.

There are of course people whom God calls to special positions including rulers of nations, and prophets to be His mouthpiece. At times, He had just one prophet, at others, a whole “company” (1Sam.10:5). Since New Testament times, the special favor the children of Israel enjoyed with God shifted to everyone else, i.e. the Gentiles. This is known as the “times of the Gentiles” (Lk.21:24). During this time, Jesus said God’s favor and privileges would be available to all, and most importantly a direct relationship with Him.

No longer would mankind be required to go to a priest or have a high priest who would intercede on their behalf. Jesus fulfilled all requirements and opened the way for each person to directly commune with God. This is a privilege any and all of us can and should enjoy.

There are gifts and callings that God will distribute according to His own will and pleasure, like the call of Paul which occurred outside the circle of the apostles.

All Believers are commissioned to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and we all have been promised that signs will follow us. Billy Graham however seems to have outperformed all other Believers in this regard and for that reason must have received a special gifting.

The same can be said of visitations from Our Lord. Yes He did promise that all could be visited by Him (Rev.3:20), but certain individuals have enjoyed more visitations than others. Take the example of Mary K. Baxter, she once enjoyed forty-nights worth of visits with Our Lord, for three hours each night.

Jesus has been known to console little children and personally administer to the needs of people. But most people are consoled by the Holy Spirit, angels, or departed loved ones. Why one method is used instead of another is known only by God.

The prophet Sadhu has done well to educate Believers about the different types of ministrations. Before him, not many believed that departed loved ones or departed saints could visit the living. These truths he learned from his many experiences which we are now blessed to know about.

God’s preferred method for communicating with His children is by the “still small voice” as experienced by the prophet Elijah:

11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. (1 Kings 19:11–12)

Brother Sadhu in his recent book On Eagle Wings shared about the importance of “stepping out in faith,” and how God usually only provides one-stepping-stone-at-a-time until we will act. No matter how gifted a person may be, each person is only ever given one-stepping-stone-at-a-time. Not until we exercise faith and “step out” will He give us more information about what comes next.

This fact that on an ongoing basis, all ministers around the world are only ever given but one-stepping-stone-at-a-time is proof that all are still required to exercise faith. Traveling ministers will obviously have more faith promoting experiences than others, which could be interpreted as that minister having more favor with God. In reality, it’s always the faith of Believers that heals them (Mat.9:22). This is why Paul had more exploits to report than James – Paul traveled, James did not.

When it comes to understanding the writings of Brother Sadhu, it is best to keep in mind that unless he expressly says “The Lord dictated the following word-for-word” then the reader should not assume his words are “word-for-word” what Jesus said. Brother Sadhu could do better at identifying where Our Lord’s words stop, and where his start so readers/listeners do not assume all his words are all the Lord’s. This is an important distinction to make for protecting the integrity of Our Lord from the mistakes of Brother Sadhu.

Paul was wise to shift this burden of error squarely off his shoulders by saying “this is my advice.” (2Cor.8:10) I have yet to find such a distinguishment in the writings or speeches of Brother Sadhu.

Background

India

Readers probably know that the experiences of Brother Sadhu are not uncommon among Indians. There is a greater focus on spiritual things in India than most countries. Yoga is one type of spiritual practice, meditation another; Deepak Chopra shared with the world many of their spiritual practices.

The word “sadhu” means “an ascetic holy man, especially a monk” (Random House Dictionary); “a Hindu wandering holy man ” (Collins English Dictionary).  From the Wikipedia we read:

Sādhus often wear saffron-coloured clothing, symbolising their sannyāsa (renunciation).

The Sanskrit terms sādhu (“good man”) and sādhvī (“good woman”) refer to renouncers who have chosen to live a life apart from or on the edges of society to focus on their own spiritual practice.

The words come from the root sādh, which means “reach one’s goal”, “make straight”, or “gain power over”. The same root is used in the word sādhanā, which means “spiritual practice”.

There are 4 to 5 million sadhus in India today and they are widely respected for their holiness, and sometimes feared for their curses. It is also thought that the austere practices of the sadhus help to burn off their karma and that of the community at large. Thus seen as benefiting society, sadhus are supported by donations from many people.

There are naked (digambara, or “sky-clad”) sadhus who wear their hair in thick dreadlocks called jata. Aghori sadhus may claim to keep company with ghosts and live in cemeteries as part of their holy path.

A popular characteristic of Sadhu ritualism is their utilisation of cannabis (known as charas) as a form of sacrament.

Sadhus engage in a wide variety of religious practices. Some practice extreme asceticism while others focus on praying, chanting or meditating.

Becoming a sadhu is a path followed by millions. It is supposed to be the fourth phase in a Hindu’s life, after studies, being a father and a pilgrim, but for most it is not a practical option.

Living as a sadhu is a difficult lifestyle. Sadhus are considered to be dead unto themselves, and legally dead to the country of India.

The ruggedness of the sadhu life deters many from following the sadhu path. Such practices as the obligatory early morning bath in the cold mountains require a detachment from common luxuries. After the bath, sadhus gather around the dhuni, or holy fireplace, and begin with their prayers and meditation for the day.

The rigour of the spiritual practices in which contemporary sadhus engage also varies a great deal. Apart from the very few that engage in the most dramatic, striking austerities—for example, standing on one leg for years on end or remaining silent for a dozen years—most sadhus engage in some form of religious practice: devotional worship, hatha yoga, fasting, etc. For many sadhus, consumption of certain forms of cannabis is accorded a religious significance. Sadhus occupy a unique and important place in Hindu society, particularly in villages and small towns more closely tied to tradition. In addition to bestowing religious instruction and blessings to lay people, sadhus are often called upon to adjudicate disputes between individuals or to intervene in conflicts within families. Sadhus are also living embodiments of the divine, images of what human life, in the Hindu view, is truly about – religious illumination and liberation from the cycle of birth and death. (Wikipedia)

Some perform magical rituals to make contact with the gods, others practise intense forms of yoga and meditation to increase their spiritual powers and acquire mystical knowledge. Certainly, not all sadhus are enlightened. But believers regard them all as holy anyway, if only because of their radical commitment. And successful sadhus are even worshipped as ‘gods on earth’. Believers only have to ‘behold’ a sadhu — as a kind of living idol — to receive a spark of his spiritual energy. They give donations to the sadhus — regarded as offerings to the gods — and get their blessing in return. Thus, since time immemorial, has Indian society been organised to support the holy men, for they are not supposed to work. (Sadhus & Yogis of India)

Thus, by all accounts, Brother Sadhu is only doing what is very common in his country, yet rare among Christians in general. In Death of a Guru by Rabindranath R. Maharaj he describes his own conversion to Jesus:

Tons of darkness seemed to lift and a brilliant light flooded my soul. The ‘sunlight of his love’ had come to shine in my heart, too! Astral travel to other planets, unearthly music and psychedelic colors, yogic visions and higher states of consciousness in deep meditation – all these things, once so thrilling and self-exalting, had become dust and ashes. What I was experiencing now was not just another psychic trip. I was sure of that. (p. 137)

Others who were raised in similar spiritually disciplined lifestyles have encountered Jesus during their meditations and out-of-body travels. In Face to Face with Jesus Christ David Sereda describes his experience:

“My first conscious memory of an out-of-body meeting with spiritual beings happened when I was a young teenager.” “I had been a Buddhist Vipassana meditation practitioner for fifteen years, and had loved Jesus, but did not think a whole lot about him.” “I experienced the glory as Jesus spoke to me.” “After meeting all these beings, not one person even has a grain of sand of Power and Glory compared to Jesus Christ.” (p.6,7)

Brother Sadhu, like Maharaj and Sereda has blended his spiritual abilities with his Christian faith which has given him many wonderful experiences.

Jesus

Readers/viewers of any of Brother Sadhu’s material may be shocked at how many times he says Jesus “appeared” to him, which could give the impression that he is highly favored of God. “Surely” they say “the creator and maintainer of the Universe has more important things to do than bring messages to Sadhu.” Additional insights into this process may help readers to understand it’s not unusual at all.

How many people are aware that Jesus is the creator and maintainer of ALL created things? Or, how many are aware that Jesus is the God of the Old Testament, the very being who came down on Mt. Sinai? We are talking about a spirit being that is beyond all comprehension, except for when He condescended to come in human form.

While the Son of God was here in human form, part of Him was still maintaining the Universe, a feat that is impossible for us to comprehend:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Colossians 1:15–17)

Ever wonder how Jesus could know all about each person on earth, all at the same time? Obviously He knows everything because HE IS EVERYWHERE. Just like He spoke to Moses out of a bush, and Mary as a gardener, and a stranger to His apostles on the road to Emmaus, He can appear how He wants, when He wants, and to as many as He wants or need – AT THE SAME TIME. The very essence, or presence of Jesus can be in a million places at the same time because He is everywhere.

Formula: Jesus is God + God is Everywhere = Jesus is Everywhere

If a person is attuned to His human image, then that’s what they will see when they tune into His presence. Those not familiar with the presence of Jesus will not be able to “tune” into His image. Remember, as God, Jesus literally is everywhere, therefore the onus is on us how and when we tune into Him (Unless He wants to appear a certain way).

1 O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? (Psalms 139:1–7)

 Abilities

It should not come as a shock in this day and age to hear of visions or visitations. Everyone is born with a unique set of abilities and we are all aware of child prodigies. We have seen documentaries on small children who are able to play complex pieces of music on the piano without ever having a lesson, or draw incredible paintings, math geniuses, super memories, etc. But what about spiritual child prodigies with the ability to heal, remember heaven, see spirits, angels, demons, departed loved ones, Jesus?

Natural born spiritual gifts are real. Take the case of Heather Edwards Garner. She was so tired of being misjudged and misunderstood for her natural born spiritual gifts that she decided to write a book to inform Christians that they exist (see Christian Psychic by Heather Edwards Garner). In her book, she describes just like Brother Sadhu does, how she could see Jesus at different meetings and such. For them, they are not fanciful stories, but everyday life.

Where much is given, much is expected (Lk.12:48). Those who see more are expected to “do more,” but if they fail to “do more” then their consequences will be severe. One should keep this dynamic in mind before praying for the same gift. Those who need visitations because they are too dull of hearing God’s preferred method of communication, i.e. “the still small voice” will receive lesser rewards:

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: (1 Peter 1:7)

7 For we walk by faith, not by sight: (2 Corinthians 5:7)

18 Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on pious self-denial or the worship of angels, saying they have had visions about these things. Their sinful minds have made them proud, (Colossians 2:18 NLT)

Teachings

The first teaching we would like to address is the contradictory statements on The Rapture.

Rapture

Due to his manner of not distinguishing his words, opinions, and conclusions from what Our Lord said, the prophet Selvaraj has set himself up to fail having left himself no wiggle-room whatsoever to explain how it is Our Lord/his teachings could contradict themselves? Had he followed the advice of Paul and clarified what were his own conclusions and opinions this would not have risen to become the problem that it is. “Is it possible for the truth of a message to become tainted by its messenger?” Keep this question in mind as you read the following contradictions:

2012 2014

The following extract comes from the video “Bride Get Ready 18.12.2012… ANGEL TV” beginning at 13:30:

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:14–18)

For what purpose? To meet the Lord in the air.

Dear brothers and sisters, the spirit of Christ within me testifies, this event is going to take place very soon now. Sooner than you think it will take place. This is an event that will take place before the literal coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to this world.

Look at this:

4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. (Zechariah 14:4)

Look at this verse, it says his feet will touch the ground. Now look at 1 Thessalonians, verse 17 says ‘we shall meet the Lord in the air’; the Lord does not come down to the ground. We are caught up to meet him in the air and the last verse says ‘so shall we ever be with the Lord.’ And John 14:3 says:

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:3)

This event is what is called the secret coming of the Lord. This is different from the coming mentioned in the book of Zechariah. There is so much confusion in the church about The Rapture. Some say it is true, some say it is not true. I am not going to get into such foolish discussions and confusion. I’m going to stand on the Word of God. I’m going to help you to see the Word of God. The scripture says very clearly, that we who are alive and remain, are going to be caught up.

Matthew 24:40 says:

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. (Matthew 24:40–41)

Now the question is, where will they be taken? This is not a UFO coming and light shining on somebody and they are taken. Maybe one or two will come in the future for certainly the antichrist could deceive people like that. Please take note of the word ‘taken.’ This is a very special word. The Greek word for ‘taken’ is παραλαμβανεται no where else in the New Testament is this word used. It is only used once in the entire New Testament.

What does it mean. ‘To be taken and kept for future use.’ The sound of the trumpet is blasted in the air, the dead in Christ hear the sound, those who are alive are all caught up to meet the Lord in the air. And they enter into the marriage supper of the Lamb. And after that, the visible, literal coming of the Lord.

Taken away from the world before God’s wrath is poured out.

Brothers and sisters I perceive the trumpet sound within me, and the spirit of Christ is speaking expressly that this event spoke of in 1Thes.4:16, properly known in the church as ‘The Rapture’ is going to take place very soon now. The Bride must get herself ready. The church must become cleansed to make herself ready. You must hear the friends of the bridegroom calling you to get ready.

The rapture is not going to take place before the antichrist. Sorry for the bad news. (Post-Trib Rapture Revealed by Lord Jesus to Bro.Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj, https://youtu.be/nZS6TVqsumc)]

14:46 Let me tell you one truth, when I started my ministry, I was part of all this Pentecostal tradition, that teaches this escapists doctrine – the church will be raptured before The Tribulation comes, she will never experience all this. I held to that belief, I preached it until I had an encounter of the Lord in 2006. In the first week of June in 2006 I was preaching for a church in south India, I was asking the Lord what should I preach at this convention?

The Lord Jesus Christ appeared before me and said ‘Have you read Matthew 24:8?’ So I turned to that scripture and read:

‘Tell them the church shall go through the fires of tribulation.’ I had never heard anything like this, the church is going to be raptured you know. Rev.4:1…no, the Lord told me you guys have it all wrong. For the next two hours the Lord sat with me, we went through the whole book of Revelation. Pointing scripture after scripture: the seven seals, seven trumpets, the seven bowls, showing me one after the other, the sequence of events. I never said the church would escape that Tribulation, the mark of the beast, that will be introduced and the church will still be there. That will be the final test of your loyalty. Your final test of loyalty of whom you will owe your allegiance to.

When you cannot buy or sell without the mark are you going to compromise? It’s easy to say no right now, but when the rubber hits the road, it’s a whole other game. When you come face-to-face with making a decision, life or death, what will you do? How will your faith stand? That is a test you know.

21:10 The final test that the Bride needs to go through [mark]. If we are not prepared to go through all of that, we will fall. In the hour of temptation, we will fall like Peter did.

35:36 The judgment on America is going to come.

Be prepared for the worst times to come upon you. (Lancaster August 6-10, 2014, Session 5, Friday 11:15AM: https://youtu.be/m2Vgv8FKelo)

To clarify the matter, we will take the testimony of Mary K. Baxter for what Jesus believes.

Mary K. Baxter

Without the testimony of Mary K. Baxter, this ministry would not exist. For that reason we defer to what Jesus told her about the timing of The Rapture:

He said, ‘Soon I will return and take back with Me to heaven first the righteous dead, then after them those that are alive and remain will be caught up to be with Me in the air. Following that, the Antichrist will reign upon the earth for an appointed time, and there will be tribulations such as have never been before, nor will ever be again. (Mary K. Baxter, Divine Revelation Of Hell, 1993, p. 190, Kindle)

Neville Johnson

Long time friend and fellow speaker of Brother Sadhu is Neville Johnson. Neville has rightly distinguished between “tribulation” and “wrath.” Life IS “tribulation” (Jn.16:33, Acts 14:22) but God’s wrath is part and parcel of the antichrist:

We are not appointed to the wrath of God. The church is not appointed to the wrath of God. We’re appointed to tribulation but not the wrath of God. That’s why all of these people preaching are getting it wrong. The wrath of God and tribulation are totally different things, they are not the same things. When God is finished with catching His people away the wrath of God will fall on the earth. (Lancaster Prophetic Conference 2015 Ebook, p.197)

God uses the wicked to punish the defiant. IF the majority of the people on earth do not turn from their wicked ways after the glory of God is poured out, THEN, and only then will the horrors mentioned by John come to past, starting with the evil one being cast from the Second Heaven down to earth.

12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. (Revelation 12:12)

Not only will the evil one pour out his wrath upon the defiant who are left behind after The Rapture, but God’s angels will pour out their wrath upon the defiant as well:

1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth. (Revelation 16:1)

Cut Short

God in His great mercy is planning to “cut His work short in righteousness” (Rom.9:28) in which case the world would be spared the horrors of The Revelation of John including the antichrist. It IS possible to change prophesied outcomes (see examples Ninevah and King Hezekiah), and The Army of the Lord will do its part to see that there WILL be a positive outcome (See www.cutshort.org for more details.).
